Arthrosamid is a single injection of a non-steroidal hydrogel used to relieve pain from knee osteoarthritis. Unlike steroid or hyaluronic acid injections, it is not broken down by the body. It becomes part of the joint lining and cushions the knee, and one treatment is designed to give long-lasting relief. At Premier Private GP it is given at our CQC-registered clinic in Bagshot, using ultrasound guidance where needed. Consultation from £120; your Arthrosamid treatment price is confirmed at consultation.
Arthrosamid is a CE-marked, non-steroidal injectable hydrogel used to treat the pain and stiffness of knee osteoarthritis. The gel is made of 97.5% water and 2.5% polyacrylamide, and it is given as a single injection into the knee joint.
In a published study of 49 people with knee osteoarthritis (opens in a new tab), pain scores were significantly lower 12 months after a single injection.
Rather than being absorbed like a steroid, the hydrogel becomes part of the synovium, the soft lining of the joint. This creates a cushioning effect that can ease pain and improve movement.
Because the gel is not broken down by the body, its effect is designed to last much longer than steroid or hyaluronic acid injections. Results vary from person to person, and your clinician will explain what to expect for your knee.
