Carbon Reduction Plan

Premier Private GP

Publication Date: March 2026

Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

Premier Private GP Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2045. As a clinician-led, patient-focused private GP service founded by Dr Muddassar Ahmed, our model is built around fast access, personalised care, and convenience.

We recognise that while our environmental footprint is relatively small, our responsibility is not. Our service design — including same-day access, online consultations, and flexible appointment models — already reduces unnecessary travel and resource use.

Our focus is simple:

  • Deliver high-quality healthcare with minimal environmental impact
  • Reduce emissions without compromising patient access or care quality
  • Build sustainability into how we grow as a business

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline Year: 2026
As a growing private GP provider, emissions are currently based on operational estimates aligned to service activity, with a clear plan to move toward measured reporting.

Baseline Emissions (Estimated)

  • Scope 1: 0.0 tCO₂e
  • Scope 2: 0.9 tCO₂e
  • Scope 3: 2.5 tCO₂e

          Total: 3.4 tCO₂e

What Drives Our Emissions

Unlike traditional healthcare providers with large estates, Premier Private GP operates a lean, access-first model, meaning emissions are concentrated in a few areas:

Scope 1 – Direct Emissions (0.0 tCO₂e)

  • No owned vehicles
  • No direct fuel usage or on-site combustion

Scope 2 – Electricity Use (0.9 tCO₂e)

  • Clinic and office electricity (lighting, IT systems, diagnostic equipment)
  • Digital systems supporting online consultations and bookings

Scope 3 – Indirect Emissions (2.5 tCO₂e)

Primarily driven by:
  • Staff and clinician travel
  • Patient travel to clinic locations
  • Procurement of medical consumables
  • Digital infrastructure and outsourced systems

This reflects a service model where access and convenience reduce system pressure, but still carry indirect carbon cost.

Emissions Reduction Targets

We are setting realistic targets aligned to our size and growth stage:
  • 20% reduction by 2030
  • 50% reduction by 2038
  • Net Zero by 2050
These targets will evolve as we improve measurement accuracy.

How Our Model Already Reduces Carbon

Premier Private GP already reduces emissions through:
  • Same-day and remote consultations, reducing unnecessary travel for patients
  • Extended consultation times, reducing repeat visits and inefficiencies
  • Digital-first booking and communication systems, limiting paper us
  • Flexible access (evenings and weekends), reducing peak-time travel demand
This is important — your service design is already a carbon reduction strategy. Most providers can’t say that.

Planned Carbon Reduction Measures

  1. Energy Use
  • Move toward renewable energy-backed clinic spaces
  • Prioritise energy-efficient clinical environments when selecting locations
  • Reduce idle energy consumption from equipment and IT
  1. Patient Access Model
  • Continue prioritising online and telephone consultations as first-line access
  • Reduce unnecessary in-person visits where clinically appropriate
  • Encourage efficient care pathways to minimise repeat appointments
  1. Workforce and Travel
  • Promote remote and hybrid working for administrative teams
  • Reduce non-essential clinician travel
  • Encourage use of public transport where possible
  1. Procurement and Clinical Supplies
  • Work with suppliers who demonstrate environmental responsibility
  • Reduce reliance on single-use materials where safe to do so
  • Optimise ordering to reduce waste
  1. Data and Governance
  • Move from estimated to tracked emissions data annually
  • Integrate sustainability into operational decision-making
  • Align with broader healthcare sustainability standards over time

Carbon Offsetting

Offsetting will be considered only for residual emissions that cannot be reduced operationally, using verified UK-based schemes where possible.

Declaration and Sign-Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared in line with:

  • PPN 06/21
